Iran is Nervous as U.S. Places Four Nuclear Carriers in The Persian Gulf.

Well as most probably know by now, the US now has four nuclear powered carriers in the Persian Gulf, off the shore of Iran. This is making the Iranians a bit nervous, but the pentagon says there will only be “War games”, none of which is aimed directly at Iran. Although they are there to train other States in the region to intercept “WMDs”. Read on.>>>

Aljazeera

Iran considers Washington- sponsored war games in the Persian Gulf, off the Iranian coastline as a provocation aimed at creating a situation of direct confrontation between the U.S. and Iranian naval forces in the Persian Gulf, although a senior U.S. official insisted that the exercise is not aimed specifically at Iran.

The Iranian government does not take the ships off the shore as a training mission, but as a possible hostile action.

Iran's official news agency IRNA quoted an unnamed foreign ministry official as describing the military maneuvers as dangerous and suspicious. The Iranian foreign ministry official said the U.S.-led exercises were not in line with the security and stability of the region. Instead, they are aimed at fomenting crises, he said."

On September 30,2006, I wrote on how the Eisenhower was pulled out of dry dock one month early, and sent to the Gulf region, along with, Mine Sweepers, and ships capable of laying down mines as well. The claim by the Pentagon at the time was that it was normal rotation of the fleets, and Ike was only going to replace the Abraham Lincoln.ABA

The Nation

the Bush Administration and the Pentagon have moved up the deployment of a major "strike group" of ships, including the nuclear aircraft carrier Eisenhower as well as a cruiser, destroyer, frigate, submarine escort and supply ship, to head for the Persian Gulf, just off Iran's western coast.

Aljazeera

On October 11, American officials announced that the U.S., Bahrain and other states will hold their first naval exercise in the Gulf to practice interdicting ships carrying weapons of mass destruction and missiles.

With all that is going on in Middle East at the present, the tension between the US, and Iran is not to be taken lightly. One slipup by either side could be cause for an altercation that will be horrendous. Because U.S. militarily is stretched thin, the Iranians might be thinking that now is the best time too hit the superpower. With Bush planning to send 20 thousand more troops to Iraq, is this the sign of a pullout coming? The reason I ask this question, the experts say that to send that number of troops could only be for a couple of months. That is all the military could sustain. The numbers are so low at the present time, that to do so for a longer period of time would leave the country weakened.

With the new buzzword in Washington being “Surge” where Iraq is concerned. Bush is about to regain his reputation as the “Blood Soaked Chimp”, a name readers ask me to quit using, in referring to George W. Bush. A “surge” of 20,000 troops mostly Marines is planed for Iraq. The administration feels that they can stabilize Iraq, (a task that they have yet been able to do in the last three and a half years.) I believe that out of this, the surge will come in the form of more civilian casualties, and American troop deaths. The only viable plan I see in to withdraw, and regroup. With an addition of more troops, no matter how many, nothing the United States dose, short of pulling out, will stop the civil war that they have created.

Bill Maher has been saying that the person to run Iraq is now on death row. Even George H.W. Bush knew better than go into Baghdad and occupy it. He saw what would eventually happen if Saddam were removed. During that period when I was ask why George H.W. Bush didn’t go in and finish Iraq, I explained, by leaving Saddam in place at least they new what they had, and with something new, all hell could break lose. Then I was just handing out a line of bullshit not knowing the real reason, and now I feel like a freaking genius.

While the White house plans for 20,000 more troops, other military leaders feel that at least 100,000 more troops are needed to stabilize the country. While I am not an expert in the filed of the military, when you don’t have enough ammo and supplies, for the troops already there, does it make sense to send more in to draw off those supplies?

This week they got Bush to do something that he would not do in the 60s and 70s, go to Vietnam. Now that the heat is on him in this country, he is hiding out in Vietnam. [Ah, the times they are a changing.] While in Vietnam one report said that Bush visited the spot where John McCain was held prisoner. [I wonder what went through that SOBs head, besides the warm Vietnam wind?]

Fare Voting? I Don’t Think SO!

Here is something that is beginning to piss me off about the last elections. It is all fun and games now that the Democrats have taken power, and there are scattered cases of voter fraud through out the country. However we are not hearing about them. Most of the Liberals and democrats are feeling that it does not matter anymore they got in. This sickens me.

What brought this up is a diary that caught my eye on DailyKos, and how the post and replies were making fun of the article. Maybe I am making too much of this, but ever since 2000, I have a thin skin when it comes to fraud in voting, no matter what side it is against.
The following was taken from SLJ’s diary.

* Local bar owner Randy Wooten runs for mayor.
* Roxanne Wooten (his wife) waits at courthouse for official election results: Zero votes tallied for Randy Wooten.
* Roxanne returns home to ask Randy "did you vote for yourself?" He confirms he did.
* Randy Wooten receives reports from numerous others (8 or 9) they also voted for him.
* Unreported, yet much speculated upon, is why Ms. Roxanne Wooten had to ask her husband if he voted for himself to confirm a zero vote count as inaccurate. [Think about it...]

It was a short two years ago that we were screaming about the voter injustice, and only two years before that we actually watched an election be stolen right out from under our noses.

[The republicans can say what they want; they depended on the stupidity of the average Joe to pull off how that awarding of the election should have gone.] However, I am not here to give a Civics lesson, this is about the fact that the voting system is in worse shape than in 2000.

In the small township where I live, we had no major problems this time. But in 2004 we had a lack of cards, and cards that did not work. There was a repeat in the primaries this past spring. The election officials said it all turned out all right, but I know for fact it did not.

At around 12:00pm the poll official called the County Courthouse to report that the machines were not working properly. She was told that there were a lot of problems all over the county, and they would get some one out as soon as possible, in the meantime use the paper ballots. Well that is going to be hard to do, we did not receive any. She replied.

So the polling station was shutdown and the voters told to return at 2:00pm and they could vote. From what I was told by one of the Township Supervisors, at 12:30 they received paper ballots from one of the other polling stations in the district and reopened. By 3:00 all was fixed and back to normal. I ask him if they knew for fact that it was back to normal, seeing that only the tech from the Die Bold Company was allowed in the room while the machines were being fixed. He ask if I was there while this was taking place and if not how I new. I told him that was standard procedure with the Die Bold Company. There reasoning is that it is a proprietary system, no one is allowed to over see the maintenance of their machines.

Just like in the diary, people tend to laugh off the smaller communities and their problems. It as if they are small so they don’t matter, or they won’t affect the race. When in fact they play a big part in the out come of the overall picture.

Why is it we are not hearing loud and clear that there are still problems with the vote. Could it be that the Left is satisfied that they now have the power? Could it be that the right was so taken back by the land slide loss that they are still regrouping? I am not sure why we are now taking it all in stride, but I am glad there are still organizations like Black Box Voting out there watching out for us, because It seems that once you get the prize, you lose sight of the troubles you had getting there.

“IN THE SHAME of a GOVERNMENT”

In the last five and a half years, this administration has ask hundreds-of-thousands of its citizenry to sacrifice their livelihood, and thousands to give their lives, for what they claimed was done for the bettering of the countries defenses against an invisible enemy. An enemy that was of thought, not of country. During that time those who sacrificed, and made it home, found that they would not receive that which was promised to them for that sacrifice.

Instead they came back to find that for their giving, the giving of limbs, sanity, and life, there were broken promises, out right lies, and miles of red tape. The wounded found a system that lacked in compassion, but thrived on the bottom dollar. They returned to find that the resources that had been in place when they left had shut their doors because of a government’s greed for power. They came home to find an administration whose very leader refused to do, that which he ordered them.

In a time that we find the change of power in our own house, we find ourselves trusting that we will not be subject to lies for the gain of power, the all too familiar sound of broken promises. With this, the sound of change should come, not the same drum beating.

Yet, we hear the clamoring of how we can save face and respect those who have given for the lie. To that I say, bring them home. Apology will ever comfort the families that have lost loved ones, reinsure that though it is too late for them, no other American will die for a gross fabrication.

A gross show of negligence left us abandoned at home, for the lie. The resources for the protection of the homeland were so far away, and for that, there is no excuse. To invite negative accusations, because you turn your back on humanity in need, because you turn your back to the threat, so that you might advance a diabolical plan, and finally but nowhere near least, because you sold you brethren to the lowest bidder, while endangering the world, I say to you step down, relinquish the misguided grip you have on us.

The Plan

On Friday the Democrats released the New Direction, what it is, is a plan on which the democrats plan on taking the country in the next few years. Most Republican Neo-Con types are screaming that what the Democrats did was to adopt the old plan from the G.O.P. and claimed it as their own. Although I do see similarities, this has a better chance of taking off, because of the fact republicans don’t have the ball anymore.

The plan is called, Six in “06”. It is broken down into six areas that will be the goal of the Democrats to repair or totally overhaul in the upcoming session.

Plan
SIX FOR ‘06 - PRIORITIES FOR ALL AMERICANS, NOT JUST THE PRIVILEGED FEW
PROSPERITY - BETTER AMERICAN JOBS, BETTER PAY
Prohibit the Congressional pay raise until the nation’s minimum wage is raised. End tax giveaways that reward companies for moving American jobs overseas.
OPPORTUNITY - COLLEGE ACCESS FOR ALL
Make college tuition deductible from taxes, permanently. Cut student loan interest rates. Expand Pell Grants.
ENERGY INDEPENDENCE - LOWER GAS PRICES
Free America from dependence on foreign oil and create a cleaner environment with initiatives for energy-efficient technologies and domestic alternatives such as biofuels. End tax giveaways to Big Oil
companies and enact tough laws to stop price gouging.
AFFORDABLE HEALTH CARE - LIFE-SAVING SCIENCE
Fix the Medicare prescription drug benefit by putting seniors first by negotiating lower drug prices and
ending wasteful giveaways to drug companies and HMOs. Promote stem cell research that offers real hope to millions of American families who suffer from devastating diseases.
RETIREMENT SECURITY AND DIGNITY
Stop any plan to privatize Social Security, in whole or in part. Enact real pension reform to protect employees’ financial security from CEO corruption and mismanagement, including abuse of the
bankruptcy laws. Expand personal savings incentives.

The title says it all, PRIORITIES FOR ALL AMERICANS, NOT JUST THE PRIVILEGED FEW. That is something that has been lost on the Neo-Cons over the last 6 years, or longer. This bunch that has rode ruff-shot over the country, has hand out more funds to those who did not need it in their attempt to revive Trickle Down Economics, no matter what the indicators say, the middle class is lucky it has survived.

In the past six years the middle class has nearly become extinct. In its struggle to survive, the average American is over four thousand dollars in debt, and that grows every year. Like the Government, the population is depending on credit to survive. It is easy to show the upside of an economy if that is all you are showing. If you don’t show the people that you are barrowing trillions of dollars, [or selling your countries interest down the Yellow River] everything looks bright. The democratic plan addresses the problem by returning to financial responsibility, which has never been seen since this administration took office. The one great point that is brought to light is that we own half our debt to China and Japan.
The Plan

Without a return to fiscal discipline, the foreign countries that make our computers, our clothing and our toys will soon be making our foreign policy. Deficit spending is not just a fiscal problem - it’s a national security issue as well.
Our New Direction is committed to “Pay As You Go” budgeting - no more deficit spending.
We are committed to auditing the books and subjecting every facet of federal spending to
tough budget discipline and accountability, forcing the Congress to choose a new direction and the right priorities for all Americans.

Yesterday during a debate online, something was said that we hear a lot of anymore about the Democratic win last Tuesday. The republicans lost it, the democrats did not win. While I do believe that might be partly true, it is not the whole truth. The people could have not voted, or voted for a third party. So I think, people knew that this was not what they wanted for the country, and once they saw past the fear mongering, they felt secure enough to pop their heads up and look around.

The other lie that the Neo-Cons are telling their selves to take the sting out of the loss is that they voted for centrist democrats. That we, the so call “Wacky Left” ran towards the middle, and that is a total line of bull puck.

Why are the Neo-Cons Moving so Fast?

Yesterday I ran a poll on Daily Kos, The question was, Now that the Democrats Have the power (unofficially) should they start impeachment hearings? I was amazed that out of 62 people that voted, 5 or (8%) voted Not sure, 29 or (49%) voted Yes, and 28 or (48%) voted No. I really did not realize we liberals were this divided.

I don’t know why the Republicans are moving so fast on this, but I have a couple of ideas. The movement is pointing to a real shakeup in the Bush cabinet. But why? It is not uncommon for administrations to have shakeups after a main election, but not so much after a mid-term.

With the removal of Rumsfeld, and the and George W. Bush’s pick of Robert Gates, someone who really does not stray to far from the administrations philosophy of, “Stay the Course” could this just have been for public relations? I think that this is one of the main reasons. If the Bush administration has shown anything, it is they do not care what we as the citizenry think. Others say they are trying to make sure it does not look as if the Democrats forced the issue.

Another piece of the puzzle is why George Allen, who had every right to demand a recount of the vote, did not ask for that recount. There again, I can only speculate at what they are up to. Are they rebuilding, or are they just losing those that are afraid that they might go down if there is an Impeachment in the works? I personally think it is a rebuilding process, in which Cheney will be the next major sacrifice. It will not be noted as a resignation, or a firing, I do believe that it will be said his health reasons are at the core.

Now this brings up another scenario, if, and when Cheney does step down, who will Bush pick to fill his shoes? Very few are saying Condoleezza Rice, but there are some interesting choices out there, one of which I think has a damn good chance of happening. Now I know that many of you will say I am nuts, but remember for right now all this is hypothetical.

Now what the Neo-Cons will want to do is pick someone that will be confirmed, but carry on their game plan, incase the bottom falls out. One such choice would be John McCain. He has proven his loyalty to the party, like a little puppy who has been kicked around, but returns to his master.

Another choice could be the guy they are trying to replace Donald Rumsfeld with, Robert M. Gates. Reports say that Gates is well respected on both sides of isle, and should have easy passage into the Secretary of Defense slot.

What do you think of the ex-number three man in the Republican party, Rick Santorum? The rumors were, before his defeat in the mid-terms, Santorum was one of the frontrunners being groomed for the Presidency. I do not think that the circumstances that brought his defeat will stop that. Although, if they do, I thank God it happened.

Heres one that even I would find hard to believe could happen, but in the twisted minds of the Neo-Con you never know, Joe Lieberman. He has shown that he does not honor the wishes of the democratic voters of Connecticut, when they said that he was not what they wanted representing them. When they said no he jumped political ships and went independent. What’s to say he would not swing into the Republican port?

Last, but not least is George Allen. I would think it highly unlikely, that he would be thought of for that slot. He is too much of a trouble child right now for the party. The only reason I bring up his name at all is I still cannot figure out why he just conceded.

As I said, “this is all Hypothetical, and may not even come to be. However, it is something to think about before we settle in and start to rest on our laurels.

WOW, Knock Me Over With A Feather.

The latest two announcements blew me away. Rumsfeld gone and no real fight for Virginia. Have the Bush administration finally been beaten down, or are they just regrouping? Read on. >>>

Knowing what I know about the administration, they are regrouping. So what is in store for the people of this country? Could we see more military action before January? Whatever it is, we will not really know because as we found out from the news conference yesterday, this administration is make secretive moves contently. Although we knew this in the past, Bush came out and admitted that he has been lying all a long.

I was almost certain that Allen would challenge the vote count in Virginia, but as of yet, he has not. Although last night on MSNBC, one of the so-called experts brought up a good point. The republicans don’t want to be seen as the Democrats of 2000 election, what was meant by this is when in 2000 the Republicans declared victory and then the Democrats wanted a recount, it made the democrats look bad in the eyes of a lot of the nation. This may be why Allen hasn’t pushed the recount. He might have been promised something else to forget the recount so that Republicans don’t look like crybabies.

Well, Rumsfeld and Bush made the decision for Rummy’s early departure from the cabinet, Yea Right! Looking at Robert Gates resume’ it seems to me he is a younger version of Rumsfeld, although not by much.

Gates is presently President of the University of Texas A&M. Gates was recruited by the CIA while attending Indiana University, apparently for his expertise on the IBM missiles. While in the CIA he gave intelligence reports on the IBM Missiles. He served as Deputy Chief of the CIA form 1982 until 1989. He was nominated in 1987 for Chief of CIA operations but withdrew when it became clear he would be rejected because of his closeness to the Iran Contra scandal. Gates headed the CIA under George Herbert Walker Bush. On his swearing in on November 5, 1991 he became the only person to go from an entry level position to Chief in a career with the CIA.

Gates is also part of the study group that will have there findings on the war in Iraq, looked at buy the administration.

story The Iraq Study Group is led by co-chairs James A. Baker, III, a former Secretary of State, and Lee H. Hamilton, former Congressman. Other members of the study group include: Robert M. Gates, Vernon E. Jordan, Jr., Edwin Meese III , Sandra Day O'Connor, Leon E. Panetta, William J. Perry, Charles S. Robb, and Alan K. Simpson.

So now that Rumsfeld was toss to the wolves do we see Cheney going stating health problems and Rice moving into his place, or maybe the next candidate that the republicans want to run in “08”? The republicans have to show that they are not out of touch with the people, and that they feel their concerns even though they could give a crap about them.

I personally feel that we will see a major shakeup other than the Rumsfeld departure, but the question is who and when? I don’t see Rove going he is the one that made G.W. Bush. It was like the movie “Trading Places” with Dan Ackroyd and Eddie Murphy. He took a Bumbling Idiot and made him Leader of the Feed world. But I am sure there will be another sacrifice made at the alter.

Speaking of making sacrifices, I think that for the time being we need to concentrate on bringing the country back and getting our rights and privacy back in order. Instead I open an e-mail today from the Democratic.com, about a conference they are having in Philadelphia Pa. on Veterans Day, it is called “Impeach For Change”. What gets me about this is it is becoming what all the Right-Wing pundits said it would be, a bunch of wacko Libs running around shouting impeachment.

Don’t get me wrong this entire crew under and including Bush needs to be removed, but the Democratic party has not even taken power yet and these groups are already pushing the Democratic party right back out the door. Those people that back the change in government are not going to set back while troops are dying and wait until there are impeachment hearings. We need to clean up the mess that has been made, and get the troops home safe and sound, and then go after the cabal. Not many people know, but that they can be brought up on impeachment charges after they are out of office.

Impeachment extends beyond removal from office.
It has never been done, but in theory an officer could an officer can be impeached even after leaving office. (Governors of Delaware and Virginia could be impeached only after leaving office.) It follows that "impeachment" was conceived as more than just a lever to break a corrupt official's white-knuckle grip on the big desk. [Correction: It has been done, in the case of Secretary of War Wm. Belknap (1876), who resigned as the House proceeded to a vote.

So we need to act like we have been here before even though it has been a long time. Remember it is like riding a bike, or making love, it will come back to us.

Voting in a Small Town & the Defiling of a Country

It is 7:30 am in Western Pennsylvania, and reports on the radio have a number of the polling pace in Washington Co. having problems with the machines. Donagal Township, have cards that say they have already been voted on. Then when another card is put in the same machine, the machine says that vote had been already cast. The republicans have already started screaming disentrancement of republican voters. Read on. >>>

I have yet to go vote, we have a tradition that I take my wife to work and on the way we stop off and vote. This town is amazing in that the biggest turn out is in years that we have supervisors up for reelection. Boy do the lines get long, mostly because the farmers bring their cattle to vote. (Sorry, inside joke in the town.) I did notice a lot of action at me polling place, (The Fire Hall) and that was at 5:30am this morning. I will say that those who are in charge take it very seriously, My aunt Dory God bless her, is almost 80 and still works as poll supervisor, and she is smart as a whip. She only has one fault in my eyes, besides being very opinionated, and that is she is a registered democrat that votes republican. She explained why she started voting that way, it was when my cousin was drafted for Vietnam. Good news though she is thinking of voting democrat this election. She is fed up with her Medicare and S.S.I., being tampered with. She has seen too many of her elderly friends die broke, after saving all their life.

[Update:] 11.00am. I was talking to our Democratic leader for the township, and I was telling him about the problems I had been hearing about across the county. He said that the reports were also coming in from Alleghany, and Center Counties too. Now they are coming in from Waynesburg Green County.

I want to know if we are hearing about this so fast because of the great possibility of a Democratic win. If I remember correctly in 20004, we did not hear of this until the next morning. This leads me to believe that the accusations will fly, if the Republicans are, ask to leave by the people. If the democrats don’t pull this off, we wil be told that we are sore losers, crybabies, and tons of other things I will not print.

Anyway, I will be heading out the door in about an hour to cast my (Straight Democrat) vote, which will be a first for my wife and me. We have always felt that it is important to vote the person, not the party, but as we have had it thrust upon us this time, for the first time in my voting life, I feel the party matters more. It really is sad because there are a few good republicans on our local level that have good ideas for the area. However, that is the price of a political war.

I was coming home the other day from Pittsburgh, when Guns & Roses “Civil War” came on WDVE, and I really listened to it for the first time. It was energizing, the lyrics fit so well with what is going on in the country today, and where we are headed if we don’t get a grip on the government. We need to find a command ground with the stanch right-wingers or we are not going to leave our children much to build on.

Guns & Roses, “Civil War”
Look at your young men fighting.
Look at your women crying.
Look at your young men dying, The way they've always done before.
Look at the hate we're breeding.
Look at the fear we're feeding.
Look at the lives we're leading The way we've always done before.
My hands are tied.
The billions shift from side to side.
And the wars go on with brainwashed pride.
For the love of God and our human rights.
And all these things are swept asideBy bloody hands time can't deny.
And are washed away by your genocide.
And history hides the lies of our civil wars.

Last night I made a stop in one of the political rooms on Yahoo, (something I don’t do a lot of anymore, because of their NON-Privacy policy. Of course they are right up front about it, they tell you straight-out that everything you do is recorded, in some way. Even your emails are read to make sure they meet their standards.) Well anyway, I was discussing the reason that I don’t feel the students in Iran will rise up, as this administration wants them too. I had mentioned that like our kids, they have it better than the generations before them, when a friend reminded me that our children don’t have it better. He said sure the technology is better, even healthcare is better if you can afford it. As far as spending power, and college, and buying a house, it has gotten worse. At that point, we were interrupted, by the mouthing of republican talking points. Things like, how the stock market is doing well, unemployment is setting at 4.4, and at that, I had to stop him. Unemployment as a campaign talking point should lose an election for a republican right there. Because in the last 6 years the poverty rate has climbed faster the unemployment has dropped on average. More people have dropped off or are not eligible for unemployment insurance, than in the last ten years. People have run the welfare time out. It was pointed out to me, something that I never figured into the equation of the stock market, if two or more companies get together and begin to trade stocks back and forth, they can push the numbers up and down as they see fit. This to me would explain the jump in a dying market right around Mid-Terms.

One last thing before I go and vote. Yesterday in a campaign stop in Pensacola Fla, At which the candidate did even show up because he didn’t want to be seen with Bush, George W. Bush before a crowd of an estimated 6,000 hand picked people told them the reason we must stay in Iraq is to keep gas at 2.00 a gallon. To that news, the crowd went wild, but did they stop to think, what he just told them? He told them, that it has up until that point it has all been a lie> The reason we lost over 2500 troops and hundreds of thousand too be maimed, and physiologically wounded, was for oil? That he tore a country apart while stealing our rights, for 2.00-dollar gas. These fools clapped and cheered for him, and his lies.

The other day the November Surprise was unleashed it is what is called Robo-calls. I was the recipient of at least 12 of these calls yesterday. While to me these calls to me were just annoying, Amy Goodman reported today on “Democracy Now”, one lady called up the local phone company in tears, telling them because of the great number and consistency of the RoBo-Calls, she could not get the phone calls that she needed from Hospice for dying mother.

Now it is coming out that the original members of PNAC, are call this administration incompetent in their carrying out the plans that PNAC drew up for going into Iraq. Vanity Fair published an article, entitled Neo Cupla. At this time, the Vanity Fair article is over flowing. Just go to www.vanityfair.com. Will someone please tell me why the media won‘t say PNAC?

ABA
Ps. Please go vote. Run these no good Son-of-a-Bitches, out of office, and out of this “OUR COUNTRY!” You know years ago, I called for bringing this administration up on charges of Treason, and push for the full extent of the law. To which someone replied, “Do you know the full punishment for treason? It is death do you really want that?” I answered yes, knowing that they sent our troops to die over a lie; they should be put to death. They should be brought up on war crimes including crimes against humanity. Then they should swing beside Saddam! Of course, I am not bitter.

A Fellow Blogger WARNS Neo-Cons

This is a Blog written by a Fellow blogger over at Daily Kos. He wants people to feel free to use this anywhere the Neo-Cons will see it. So Get It out there.

Dear Republicans who may be inclined to cheat in this election:

You need to watch out, before you agree to do anything wrong in this election -- either dirty tricks before the campaign or election fraud or intimidation the day of -- because we have a special weapon on our side this year.

I was going to tell you to watch out because we have spies. But "spies" isn't the right word. What we have is some good-hearted Republicans on our side. And by "our side," I don't mean that they're supporting Democrats; I mean that they are supporting honest and civil elections.

And they will turn you in and you will take the fall.

Major Danby's diary :: ::
This is an election where a lot of Republicans, even if they are willing to cast their ballots for the elephant, feel real serious conflict about what the authoritairans in power have done to our government. In the past -- in a Presidential election -- maybe they could be convinced that winning is everything. Not this year. A lot of Republicans think, rightly, that your party may be better off with a little humbling this year. That maybe things are out of control.

I'm talking about loyal Republicans here. It doesn't mean that they won't vote your way. It does mean that they're not as likely to avert their eyes if you try to cheat. Average, salt of the earth Republicans want the public to believe that the cheaters -- along with the page-fondlers, the meth-snorting prostitute patronizers, the bribe-takers, and the bribe-makers -- are being purged from the party. What better way to do that than by turning you in?

If you're asked to do something a little bit sneaky, do you know that it's legal? Do you know the name James Tobin? Do you know what happened in the New Hampshire election last time around? People are going to jail. When the party leaders decide who's going to take a fall, do you think that they'll protect the small fry like you? The White House is already pretending that they barely knew who Jack Abramoff and Ted Haggard were. Do you think you'll be protected?

The law has started catching up to you. We're already discussing tonight whether what the sabotage robocalls being used across the country are legal or not. As a lawyer, I'm not sure; it may vary state by state, or maybe not. If I'm not sure, how much of a risk do you want to take? After all, you are expendable, and they may try to say it was all your idea.

The most critical part of the law is one involving "conspiracy." The law considers a normal crime to be bad enough, but when more than one person get together to plan the crime, it is extra bad, because it tears at the social fabric in a different way. And you don't have to know much about what's going on to still be guilty of conspiracy.

Can you afford a lawyer? Do you think that the party will provide good ones to the small fry?

If you see stuff going on that a reasonable person would think might be illegal, you should certainly not participate it. More than that, you should report it. Because if there's one guy around hanging off on the sidelines, who do you think they're going to try to pin things on? You have to protect yourself. Reporting it is the only sure way to do that.

Now you may ask: why am I not directing this at Democrats? Well, first, I will: Democrats, don't cheat. If you do, I will love to see you take a fall. But really, guys, we don't have to worry much about Democrats cheating. The reason is pretty simple: if we do, we'll get caught. That's because there are already enough Democrats around who won't get involved in it, and there's more than enough media to report on any little thing we do as if it's front page news, while refusing to report on what the Republicans do that's much worse. We're honest because we had damn well better be. Your party tends to be less honest and more fast-and-loose with the rules because you assume that people will laugh and say "boys will be boys." But maybe not so much anymore.

It's a new world starting Wednesday, one in which many people will be looking around the Republican Party looking to cast blame -- and looking for scapegoats. Don't be an idiot. Don't make it easy to be the sap left holding the bag.

If you drop the dime on election fraud, you get to be a hero. If you don't, you need to be looking around at everyone around you, wondering whether one of them will. They may smile and agree to everything going on, but what's in their heart? You don't want to find out from a quiet brief talk the public defender assigned to you.

I'm not appealing to your ideology here, I'm appealing purely to your self-interest. Don't just refuse to cheat because it's right -- refuse to cheat because you'll get slammed. Don't make this year even worse for yourself.

The (P)Resident’s Power to be Tested. “Yea“.

I feel that this will be a very important test to what some have called, one of the final steps to the administrations push Ultimate Power. Read On. >>>

A group lawyers for the prisoners being held at Guantanamo Bay military prison, have ask the courts to review the cases of that were started before the MCA was signed. The lawyers are being joined by a group of retired judges from both sides of the political spectrum, that argue the foreign Nationals cannot be held indefinitely with out seeing the evidence against them.

On October 17, of this year George W. Bush signed into law the Military Commissions Act of 2006, that allowed the rules under which detainees are allowed to be held and tried. As soon as the act was signed, the government lawyers pushed to have any and all case of detainees (Known as Habeas Corpus cases.) dismissed.

Acorrding to the Washington Post, the group feels that the courts must rule in favor of the detainees, or the laws becomes unconstitutional.

"We do not believe Congress wiped out our cases in this act, and we feel strongly if Congress had done that, it would be unconstitutional," said David H. Remes, one of the lawyers. "The only time Congress can suspend the writ of habeas is in cases of invasion and rebellion. We are not being invaded, and there is no rebellion."

No truer words have been spoken.

The main reason the Administration push as hard as they did for the passage of this law was because of a ruling handed down in the case of Hamdan v. Rumsfeld. The court ruled that the pending habeas cases could go on. The government strongly objected, stating that pervious law ended those rights.

One of Neo-Cons biggest, defense or should I say talking points on this issue is, President Lincoln suspended Habeas Corpus during the Civil War. The key point in this statement is that it was a Civil War, a Rebellion. One thing that I must point out here is, the Congress did not give Lincoln the power to suspend Habeas Corpus, which made what Lincoln did unconstitutional. Robert Taney, the Chief Justice of the Supreme Court at the time, warned Lincoln that under the constitutional powers granted a President, that was not one of them.

Cases that point to the misuses of Acts that run along the same lines are the following:

John Adams used the Sedition Act, that he signed into power, to jail American newspaper editors, in American jails, for things they wrote about America, and the administration.

President Woodrow Wilson told the congress, that the Espionage Act was necessary to save American lives, only to turn around and use that Act to prosecute 2,000 Americans, most of whom were guilty only of advocating peace in a time of war.

President Franklin Delano Roosevelt basically suspended Habeas Corpus when he issued “Executive Order 9066” gathering Japanese and German American citizens up and put them in Detainment Camp, during World War Two. FDR stated that it was for the protection of the citizens of Japanese, and German decent. What I find disturbing in this case is that FDR took innocent people and imprisoned them for crimes that others might commit against them. So with that logic in mind, the Bush administration could lock away anyone disagreeing with the administration, because of what could be done to them.

Although I doubt the last statement could happen, (or could it.) The early history of the United States shows that laws like the Military Commissions Act were used for some devious reasons.

Therefore the ruling handed down in this action will be very important to the people of this country. If the court rules in the favor of the administration, they strengthen the notion that this administration has an unlimited power. But if they rule in favor of Habeas Corpus, it will show that the are not above the constitution, and their actions will be held in check.

Recruiters Want Your Children to Die so They Don’t Have to.

This morning I was watching GMA, and a story about the outrageous lies recruiters are tell kids to get them to join, and it reminded me of something that happened just last week.

My wife was telling me that her sister had called earlier and told us that our niece was at the Army Recruiters that earlier that day and, she was thinking of enlisting. Read on.>>>

So my wife and I jumped in the car, and went to visit my niece for two reasons. One was to try and talk her out of it, and the other was to see what line of bullshit they fed her to get her to quit her jobs, leave her kid maybe forever, and join up to die, or even worse.<\p>

When we arrived at her mother’s house, my nice was setting at the table. She just looked at me and said, “I know why you are here.” Ok, I said, why in the heck are you going to do something this stupid? You’re a smart girl; don’t you know you will end up in Iraq?
He told me that I would not go to Iraq, the war is wrapping up. Uncle Eddie, he was nice and helpful. He told me that I should give mom custody, just until I get out of boot camp, and they assign me to a base. I just looked at her and ask What if that base is in Iraq? I told you he promises that I would not go there. He said that I would get my signing bonus after I get out of Basic Training. She went on to tell me that if she decided to, she could take college courses in the evening after she finished her work on the base.

Needless to say, I had to explain a few things to her. I told her that in all my research, I have never come across anything of value saying that we are wrapping it up in Iraq. In fact, I said, last month was the deadliest month on record. I went on to tell her how her cousin was still waiting on his signing bonus, and he has been out for three years. Also that they won’t give him befits for his hearing loss, form a shell hitting close to him, they say that he had that before he went in. She just looked at me and left the room.

A few moments later she returned and handed me a letter, it was informing her that the store she worked at was shutting down, and that she was getting laid-off. She came over, sat down beside me, and said, Uncle Eddie, I need to do this. I don’t have insurance for Keara, I just was laid off from work, and I cannot make it on part time at Wal-Mart. (Yes, she does work at Wal-Mart, Ironic isn’t it?) The money they promised me is a lot Uncle Eddie. I looked at her and the look in her eyes was heartbreaking. I told her that we could work something out; it does not have to be the military. I ask her to give it a while. I said that between her mother, her aunt and I, we would help in anyway, we can. I told her, she could get Keara insurance through the Pa. CHIPS program. I said, the military will always be there, Please don’t rush it.

As we were leaving I told my wife, that I was going to see this recruiter and let them know about what I think about there practices. See this is not the only bitch I went through this with them over my daughter.

When my daughter was 14, a recruiter told her that if she enlists she could get a Corvette if that’s what she wanted. She came home that night, told me about it, and handed me all these papers, and a DVD on the National Guard. I sat her down and explained that I do not think at this time in her life she is ready to make a decision like this on her own, and I am glad she brought this to my attention. So bright and early the next morning I was setting in the Principle’s office. I told him, in no way, shape, or form, is a recruiter to come near my daughter again and I will have the proper paper work to him the next day.

Well it happened again yesterday, the recruiters were at our high school and they were talking to my daughters friend, when my daughter told her they were late for class. The one of the recruiters came out from behind the table and ask my daughter if she would like to be excused from a couple of classes to talk to them. She told him that, they were not to talk to her, because her father (Me) had written to the school, and the Pentagon, not giving them permission to release her records, or to have recruiters talk with her. Well my understanding is, that he told my daughter, “Daddy isn’t here right now.” and her friend just told him you do not want to mess with her daddy, and he chuckled. (I am not a violent person, but do not mess with my daughter.) So anyway, I have to go to the school and see what is going on.

I did get one thing accomplished when I met with the superintendent 2 years ago, about the recruiters. Now at the beginning of the school year they send a letter home, telling the parents they have the option of opting their child out of, having their records sent to the Pentagon, recruiters talking to their child, and taking the Military aptitude test, which is given to Sophomores and Juniors.

So I will go to the school, and I will tell the new principle, that it is on record with the school, and the Pentagon, I have opted my child out of any contact with recruiters, and anything military. Also, I would appreciate if I could have equal time when the recruiters are there, to setup a table and hand out informational anti-war material. I will let you know how it goes in a future diary.

Fear to The End, and The Things We should really fear.

It seems that the administration is going to use fear right up to the final moment of the election race. Read on.>>>

The FBI said yesterday, that one of the people arrested in connection with the London air-plot, said the plan included blowing up planes over the U.S. for maximum casualties. WaPo

The plan was bring them down over U.S. cities, not over the ocean," Mershon said Oct. 24 at the Infosecurity 2006 conference in New York, according to Government Security News, which first reported the remarks this week.

The wording in the articles are carefully worded to scare the pants off you, by the way that they worded it with statements like,

"It would make your hair stand up to be in the room to hear that presentation," Mershon said, according to GSN.
and other statements like this one;
Bruce Hoffman, a terrorism expert and Georgetown University professor, said the case indicates that Islamic extremists remain focused on attacking U.S. cities.
"They were clearly desirous of exceeding 9/11," Hoffman said. "The loss of life on the air and ground would be significant."

The way these articles are put together, they are written to put fear in the reader. The Washington Post is good at doing this, but so are so many other papers. The object is to lure the reader in by scaring them into staying with the story. You are drawn in out of the fear that if you don’t continue reading the story, you won’t know how to avoid or protect yourself from what they are feeding you.

Now Here are Things That Should Scare the Crap Out of You!

The ice is melting in the Arctic, in Greenland and all over the world, and unless we take on the climate crisis soon, we will cross a point of no return. As much as I love the beach, I don’t want it at my doorstep here in Western Pennsylvania. The administration continues to cover up and release false reports to further the agenda of corporations.

With the vast wealth of this nation, there are millions of children who can't get the medical attention they need when they are ill, because their parents, or can’t afford healthcare. Instead of righting this situation, they have decided to line the pockets on the pharmaceutical companies, through a system that robs the seniors of this country, and possibly hastiness their demise.

Unless we change the leadership of this country, we show the world that we condone Torture, that we as a nation condone all that this administration has done, and the members of the Neo-Con party will continue to do well in to the future. We must vote them out.

In September, we marked the fifth year of remembrance of 9-11 and the reminder that George W. Bush and the republican lead congress have done little, to nothing to improve the situation. Many reports have been released that point to the fact, under this administration if anything, we have been made less safe than before. By invading Iraq, and bogging down the military resources there, this administration has weakened our country. It has lost the respect that the country once had with allies and enemies alike. Those who once respected us, now revere us. Yet they use this to pray on the fears of the people, to hold them in check and retain power. To this I say no more.

On November 7th we have a chance to show the administration we do not condone their unethical and illegal acts against humanity. Instead we loath them for the things they have done in the name of “OUR COUNRTY”, and that we refuse to allow them to continue, to drag the country down.

Tuesday, we have the chance to show them that we will not stand idly by as they strip us of the rights we cherish in the name of a false feeling of security. On that day, we must show this (P)resident that we will no longer tolerate the allocations of monies that never see there promised destinations, but wined up in the pockets of the administration cronies, through the largest money laundering scheme in this countries history, The Iraq war.

I am not as foolish as to believe, that by winning one mid-term election we can turn it all around. However I do believe that it is a chance to have a new beginning, to start rebuilding all that this administration has destroyed. It will be the chance to reverse the decline in which they planed for our economy, and the middleclass. Last but never least we can get the future of this country back on track so that the future generations will not look to us and ask, “What have left us.” A win on Tuesday will show this administration that they work for us and that they are next to fall pray to the will of the people.

Joke From Mom

Here is a little something to brighten you day. Then after you read this. You can go over to my other blog and read "How to Handle Right-Wing Propagandist."

A Nun, badly needing to use the restroom, walked into a local Hooters restaurant.

The place was hopping with music and loud conversation and every once in a while the lights would turn off. Each time the lights would go out, the place would erupt into cheers. However, when the revelers saw the Nun, the room went dead silent.

She walked up to the bartender, and asked, "May I please use the restroom?

The bartender replied, "OK, but I should warn you that there is a statue of a naked man in there wearing only a fig leaf."

"Well, in that case I'll just look the other way," said the Nun.

So, the bartender showed the Nun to the back of the restaurant, and she proceeded to the restroom. After a few minutes, she came back out, and the whole place stopped just long enough to give the nun a loud round of applause.

She went to the bartender and said, "Sir, I don't understand. Why did they applaud for me just because I went to the restroom?"

"Well, now they know you're one of us," said the Bartender. "Would you like a drink?"

"But, I still don't understand," said the puzzled Nun.

"You see," laughed the bartender, "every time the fig leaf on the statue is lifted up, the lights go out.

Now, how about that drink?"

Will it Matter Who Holds the Power After November 7th?

Here we are seven days from the Mid-Term elections. I was really wondering, with everything that this administration has done to grab total control of the country, would it matter? Read on.>>>

Don’t get me wrong, I will vote, and I will continue right up until 8:00pm November 7 to push for our candidates. It is a must to at least see what change we can make. I am just thinking aloud I guess, but did you ever wonder why all the laws were passed and put into place over the last six and a half years. Of course, there were many laws passed, but there are those that are special, with a purpose. They tell us that they are to keep us safe from the terrorist, but there are too many freedoms on the line for us say, “Well, you know your right, go ahead and do anything you want.” That‘s why I am worried about some that were passed, and the Signing Statements used by George W. Bush

You have the Big One that they put into place, The Patriot Act. Then you have the next little piece of legislation, known as The Patriot Act II, passed on the same day that Saddam Hussein was pulled from that spider hole. Then there are the revisions to the Act. Others signed were HR 418, Intelligence Reform 2004, The Military Commissions Act, and many more. Now you have to realize that inside these laws are different sections, which do different things.

Section 1076 of H.R.5122, (also known as John Warner Defense Authorization Act of 2007) makes it easier for the President to declare martial law, stripping state governors of part of their authority over state National Guard units in domestic emergencies. Here again the definition of domestic emergencies, like all the key definitions in all bills passed lately by the republican lead legislature, are very broad and can be interpreted in many ways. (Terms like, Enemy Combatant, and Terrorist, just to name two.)
Source

“Section 1076 of the massive Authorization Act, which grants the Pentagon another $500-plus-billion for its ill-advised adventures, is entitled, ‘Use of the Armed Forces in Major Public Emergencies,’” explains Morales. “Section 333, ‘Major public emergencies; interference with State and Federal law’ states that ‘the President may employ the armed forces, including the National Guard in Federal service, to restore public order and enforce the laws of the United States when, as a result of a natural disaster, epidemic, or other serious public health emergency, terrorist attack or incident, or other condition in any State or possession of the United States, the President determines that domestic violence has occurred to such an extent that the constituted authorities of the State or possession are incapable of (’refuse’ or ‘fail’ in) maintaining public order, ‘in order to suppress, in any State, any insurrection, domestic violence, unlawful combination, or conspiracy.’”
For the current President, “enforcement of the laws to restore public order” means to commandeer guardsmen from any state, over the objections of local governmental, military and local police entities; ship them off to another state; conscript them in a law enforcement mode; and set them loose against “disorderly” citizenry—protesters, possibly, or those who object to forced vaccinations and quarantines in the event of a bio-terror event.
The law also facilitates militarized police round-ups and detention of protesters, so called “illegal aliens,” “potential terrorists” and other “undesirables” for detention in facilities already contracted for and under construction by Halliburton. That’s right. Under the cover of a trumped-up “immigration emergency” and the frenzied militarization of the southern border, detention camps are being constructed right under our noses, camps designed for anyone who resists the foreign and domestic agenda of the Bush administration.

So as you can see with all of the little laws made by the legislature and the Military Commission Act 2006 (Loss of Habeas Corpus), The John Warner Defense Act of 2007, (Weakening of Posse Comitatus) and the contracts to KBR (Halliburton) you have to wonder if it will matter, and what this administration has in store for, “We The People”?
ABA
Ps. Please remember to vote on Nov. 7th it may be the only chance we have to hold Bush in check.(Now there’s a slogan for the Democrats.)

Give Section 1076 The F.I.N.G.E.R.

Now with the upcoming Mid-Term Elections, a little virtually unknown piece of legislature that was passed and gives the (P)Resident the power to take power over the State militias, (The National Guard), has gained some recognition, with a Newly formed group of patriots, the project is called ”FINGER”. The legislation they want repealed is Section 1076

FINGER is an acronym for, Federalist, Independence, National Guard, Emergency, Response.
Below I have Barrowed a section from Major Danby’s diary.

Federalist
Federalist means one who favors “federalism”: the principle that some government activities belong to the federal government, while others belong to the states. The classic example of an activity assigned to the states is “policing.” We as a nation have always wanted our policing to be done at the state and local level. We have not wanted a national police force that ultimately was under the control of a single person. A national police force opens the door to tyranny.
Independence
Independence means that a state Governor, not the President, should have the final say in how and when to deploy a state’s National Guard troops. This principle was already watered down in Perpich v. Department of Defense, a unanimous 1990 Supreme Court decision that said that a Governor cannot veto use of National Guard troops in an overseas commitment. Whatever you think about that, it’s very different from the Governor not having the final say about the domestic deployment of troops for the purpose of law enforcement.
National Guard
The National Guard is the military force of each state and territory -the “Governor’s muscle.” The Governor can call up the National Guard for purposes such as disaster relief or emergency law enforcement. The President can call up a state National Guard to supplement regular troops in a foreign war. The President’s power to call up the National Guard for domestic use - to enforce federal law through what is called “martial law” - is restricted by the Posse Comitatus Act (18 U.S.C. § 1385). The exceptions to this law -when the President can call up National Guard troops for domestic use, are found in the Insurrection Act (10 U.S.C. §§ 331 -335).
Emergency Response
Emergency Response refers to the conditions under which the National Guard can be deployed. Congress has expanded the exceptions to the Posse Comitatus Act to where the President can deploy National Guard troops domestically, for federal law enforcement, for pretty much any emergency he thinks is appropriate. Now, because Congress passed Section 1076, “The President may employ the armed forces, including the National Guard in Federal service, to … (B) suppress, in a State, any insurrection, domestic violence, unlawful combination, or conspiracy if such insurrection, violation, combination, or conspiracy results in a condition [that] … (2) opposes or obstructs the execution of the laws of the United States or impedes the course of justice under those laws.” You could drive a tank through this new exception to the Posse Comitatus Act!
Put them together, and FINGER says to the President:
Keep your fingers off the Governor’s control over the National Guard and restore the Posse Comitatus Act to its former state! Repeal Section 1076!

Now here is what Section 1076 does,

Section 522 (House section 511) extends from 270 days to 365 days
the period for which the Selected Reserve and Individual Ready Reserve may be involuntarily called to active duty.

* Section 1076 (Senate section 1042):

o Amends the “Insurrection Act” (i.e., Chapter 15 of title 10, U.S. Code) by:

§ Changing the title of chapter 15 of title 10, U.S. Code) from “Insurrection” to “Enforcement of the Laws to Restore Public Order”;

§ Changing the title of section 333 of chapter 15 from “Interference with State and Federal Law” to “Major Public Emergencies; Interference with State and Federal Law”;

§ Clarifying the President’s authority, under section 33 of chapter 15, to use the armed forces, including the National Guard in Federal service, without a request from a State governor, to restore order and enforce Federal laws in cases where, as a result of a terrorist attack, epidemic, or natural disaster, public order has broken down; and

§ Including those who are obstructing the laws to the existing requirement for the President to issue a proclamation ordering insurgents to disperse and retire peaceably to their abodes within a limited time.

o Amends Chapter 152 of title 10, U.S. Code, to authorize, with certain limitations, the President, in any situation he determines to exercise the authority provided in section 333 of chapter 15, to direct the Secretary of Defense to provide supplies, services, and equipment (e.g., food, water, utilities, transportation, search and rescue, medical care, and other assistance necessary to save lives and property) to persons affected by the incident.

o Amends section 12304 of title 10, U.S. Code, eliminating the limitation imposed on the President’s authority to involuntarily call to active duty members of the reserve components to perform law enforcement and other duties in response to serious natural or man-made disasters, accidents, or catastrophes to only those incidents involving terrorist or weapons of mass destruction threats or attacks.

What the legislature did with its vagueness in this section, is open the door for a president to take the National Gaurd from one state to another, to quash a demostration, not know ahything but the oders they were given. this can be done even with the objection of the Governors. This has the possibility of another, Tienanmen Square, or to bring it closer to home, A Kent State.

A Newly Added section to the Posse Comitatus is Sec. 831, which has to do with Nuclear Materials. The section I have posted below is the supposed purpose of the adding of this section, but it like almost all laws and revisions written under this administration are, wide open and left to the discretion of the President at the time.

Purpose. - The purpose of this title [enacting section 2332c
of this title, amending this section and sections 175, 177, 178,
and 2332a of this title, and enacting provisions set out as notes
under section 262 of Title 42, The Public Health and Welfare, and
section 1522 of Title 50, War and National Defense] is to provide
Federal law enforcement agencies with the necessary means and the
maximum authority permissible under the Constitution to combat the
threat of nuclear contamination and proliferation that may result
from the illegal possession and use of radioactive materials.”

After reading section 176, a suspicious minded man would have to ask, what are we the people being setup for by our own government?

ABA
Ps. Do yourself a favor, read the section 1076, and the Posse Comitatus Act, then ask yourself, why did they give him this power?

Mail-In Votes not as Secure as Once Thought.

Yesterday I opened my Black Box Voting newsletter to find, that one thing that was being done by voters thinking that it was a secure way to make our vote count, isn‘t that full proof. Read on>>>

Write-in votes were found not to be a sure way to get your vote counted. Write-in votes are counted by voting machines, some of the voting machines had the checks, and balances turned off.

Mail-in ballots are counted by voting machines. In some locations, they are actually entered into touch-screens! In most locations, they are counted by optical scan machines, and some of these (Diebold) have crucial checks and balances disabled.

The article list a number of steps that could go wrong with mail in votes, in the process of being counted. They used King County in Washington state as an example of Ballots requiring more than one stamp and the ballot may not make it to the elections office.

In an election last year in King County Washington, voters were surprised to learn that they needed to affix two stamps, not one, to their absentee ballot envelope. This year Black Box Voting has seen anecdotal evidence that ballots in Florida and California require two stamps, not one, and this is not always clear to the voter.

They give a couple of remedies, but the one I like is demanding that your district use Business Reply Mail, this mail can be tracked, and this I fill will help secure your vote.

Next they bring up a problem that could take place here in Pennsylvania this mid-term election, Incorrect Ballot Inserts. As I was looking over the VotesPa site, I came upon this:

IMPORTANT ALERT TO ABSENTEE VOTERS REGARDING
THE NOVEMBER 7, 2006 GENERAL ELECTION BALLOT
Absentee ballots or special write-in absentee ballots that were delivered or mailed to
you by your county board of elections on or before September 26, 2006, may contain the
name of Carl J. Romanelli as a Green Party candidate for the office of United States
Senator. Please be advised that Mr. Romanelli’s name was removed from the ballot
by order of the Commonwealth Court of Pennsylvania on September 26, 2006, and
affirmed by the Supreme Court of Pennsylvania on October 4, 2006.

Please note, however, that absentee ballots containing Mr. Romanelli's name are valid and will be counted if they are returned in the lawful manner, as directed by
your county board of elections. Any votes cast for Mr. Romanelli would be counted
as write-in votes cast for that candidate.

Now one of the things that are wrong with the method they used by putting this up on their website is, not everyone has a computer. I know at least 50 people in my small community that do not have computers. This should be mailed out to all registered votes, especially the Independents.

other issues discussed are: Ballot Printer Accountability, Chain of Custody, Was Your Signature Accepted, and Voting Machine Issues?

Absentee ballots are usually run through an optical scan voting machine. These machines have in the past, produced tapes that give the results. These voting machine results tapes can then be compared with the central tabulator. Diebold, at least, has disabled this results tape in its absentee counting machines, so that the ONLY results are the data held in the GEMS central tabulator machine -- a system so hackable that we once taught a chimpanzee to alter its audit log; this is the system I taught presidential candidate Howard Dean to manipulate.

One of the problems with the system as it is, also is explained:

The absentee votes are at particular risk in the GEMS central tabulator, for the following reason: Many absentee votes are counted after Election Day. By this time, you know exactly how many votes are needed to win. The simplest way to manipulate the tabulator to tweak absentee votes for a particular candidate is this: - Each candidate is assigned a number in the GEMS system - By flipping the number, you effectively flip the vote.

So if you are voting by mail or have already mailed your ballot in, this is a must read letter. It can be found at,Black Box Voting

2-4-1 Friday. Now Who's Living in La-La land & Bones

2-4-1 Friday: Now who is Living in La-La Land & The Bones Know.

Living in their own little version of Shangri-La, the Republican leaders are at it again, which this time I hope is a good thing. Read on.>>>

Article

Yesterday Bill Frist, told republican incumbents not to sweat the Iraq war.

"The challenge is to get Americans to focus on pocketbook issues, and not on the Iraq and terror issue," Frist said in an interview with the Concord Monitor on Tuesday.

Frist’s plan is something that could possibly work in favor of the Democrats, and here’s why.

When an average Joe gets home from work, he goes over and hits the remote control, usually to catch the local news. He is interested in the weather, and sports reports. {Not in that order but, that’s the way they are set to air on most channels.} As he is getting situated in his favorite chair, the business report is on, and they are tossing phrases around like, record highs, and up so many points above yesterday, and it sounds pretty good. But to Joe, what they are saying the market is doing conflicts with what is going on in his life.

You see Joe has a second mortgage to pay, Because his daughter was in the hospital for a month last year with a kidney infection, and it nearly broke him and his wife. Then there is the personal loan that he took out to pay for the new roof and gutters put on last spring. Then there‘s Joes truck, you know the one, it‘s one more missed payment away from being repossessed. Now the creditors are ringing the phone off the wall because the credit cards got maxed out, because little Joe got sick last year and Joe has no health insurance, and it was the only way that he could think of to pay for it.

Now while Joe is waiting on the sports, a campaign commercial comes on and it is Rick Santorum telling him that under his watch the economy is doing great, and he helped get more jobs created. Joe now is about to toss a glass through the screen, but that would be another expense.

As Joe settles back in his chair, a segment comes on with the Resident-Evil saying that we are winning the war in Iraq. But that’s strange in an earlier story Joe was told that last month was the deadliest month in Iraq. Looking bewildered, Joe wonders which is it? The one thing Joe knows for sure it that, they just buried his buddy’s kid that joined the reserves four years ago. He was 3 months from getting out when he was called back.

People like Joe don’t care about the Mark Folly scandal. Yea it makes for some good jokes like the one Joe heard on the jobsite. “Why was Mark Folly at Wal-Mart? Because he heard boys pants are half off.” So I say, go ahead and let the republicans talk about the economy and how good it is, because people like Joe know where it is really at.

The Bones Know
Bones

Ok, now whether you buy the governments story on 9-11-2001, or not, you have to ask why in the hell would they not take the time to check every inch of the crime site. I mean it is five years later and they turn up. Are the utility companies so good that they did not have to get in those manholes for 5 years? I really doubt it. Read on.>>>

The bones and fragments that were fond, are said to be in next to perfect condition, for DNA matching.

Adams: "However they got there, it was certainly right at the time of the event, so they've been protected for five years and haven't been subjected to weather. ... That's the most exiting thing about this - the remains are going to be good to work with and we're getting large pieces, so the best thing that could happen would be that we potentially get some new identifications out of it."

Now this is all fine and good, but there is so much more to be answered. Like how did they get there? The biggest question that should be at the front of the line is, “Why was the administration so fast to wrap up the search?” Then when that is answered let’s ask, “Why was it that they were in such a hurry to remove the wreckage from a crime scene?” If we get answers to those questions, then let’s ask, “Why didn’t the administration pay attention to all the warnings from other countries, and the big one, Why did G.W. ignore the memo Condi gave him Entitled, “Bin Laden intent on attacking the U.S.”?

So why aren’t we asking these questions? It has been Sixty-One months and sixteen days since 9-11-2001, so why don’t we know why this administration ignored the many warnings that they got. The one thing we do know, if you have been following the track record of the Resident, the blame is somewhere else.

I am Still Applauding Keith Olbermann.

Oh my God, I just finished watching Keith Olbermann’s “Special Moment” from Last night, and I am still applauding him. It is a piece of video that I will have to wake the town up to see. I will run from house to house if I have to, just to get the word out. (It is 6:30 am here.) Read on.>>>

When I woke up I did what I normally do, I clicked on the computer and check out the blogs. Then I saw it, Olbermann is in Dangerous Waters. He Needs Our Email Blitz… by; BigDog04 I had to check it out, as luck would have it, I missed the show last night. You can watch the video at his Blog, The Political Dog Fight

Here it is almost an hour after I watched the video, and I am still applauding him. Was it yesterday that I read that Keith may have set the bar so high that even he won’t be able to hit it again. Well that person was wrong; he met and cleared the bar by 20 feet. See Olbermann has one thing that makes it easy for him, an unbridled passion for speaking the blatant truth. Oh yea, and an openly corrupt administration. As long as this administration Plays the Role, of acting as if they are above the law, Keith will have plenty of material to work with.

As I get settled in and start reading, I here this voice coming from the TV that is sending shock waves through my head, here it’s Sean Hannity being interviewed by Diane Sawyer on GMA. The topic is, the campaign ads that are aired by the republicans.

The first thing brought up is the Michael J. Fox commercial on stem cell research. As we new he would, Hannity defended his good friend. Although it was in a backhanded way. As you may or may not know, Old Limp-Balls was scolded by his own fans for his comments on the commercial, and by those that saw Rush wiggling about on the Ditto Cam. He said that Fox was over acting and stopped taking his meds to shake that bad on camera. Well if anyone is an expert “On Medication”, it would be old Dope Fiend, El’Rushbo, besides Fox said in his book that he had quit taking his Meds. Won‘t it be great when people suffering from Parkinson's disease won‘t need medication to control the tremors?

Next, Diane ask him about ads being run against Harold Ford, Tenn. (D) that paint him as a playboy, and a man about town. The ad clearly uses a beautiful white woman to make the impression that the black men are going to take your white woman. (Sorry if that sounds racist, but that is why they shot it that way.)I cannot find the ad, but if anyone has it, or knows where to get it please post it. Anyway, Hannity said that it wasn’t that bad. Then Diane reminded him the Corker ask that the ad be pulled. I am sorry but I had to leave after that, partly out of disgust and that I had to take my daughter to school.

As we know the Republicans are masters at running and creating “Smear Ads”, and hell they even have great imaginations. How long now have they been telling us that, “everything is going fine in Iraq, and that the economy is doing great? Well the economy one might be true, if you are a multi-millionaire, or corporation. In addition, they keep boasting that they have created millions of jobs, even though it is below Clinton’s average, only in the third year of his Presidency. The thing is that the jobs created are low-end jobs that are being filled by immigrants. Although, wasn’t the republicans that kept reminding us in 2004, “that the president doesn’t create the job, it the corporations.” Yea, I bet G.W.‘s buddy Venetia Fox is thankful.

So when I am out, canvassing the towns in Western Pennsylvania, and I run into people that I have a hard time getting through to, I tell them. It is simple. “If you want more of the same, (living in fear, tax breaks for the millionaires, our kids being shipped off to be killed, for the lies of this administration, and total loss of your rights, vote Republican. On the other hand if you want, a chance for a hope, (the hope of stopping the killing of our troops in a war that should have never been, a hope that we will see affordable health care, and a hope that the economy will be good for even the little guy, then you have to vote Democrat!) It is that simple.”

Falcon Camp and COPLAN 8022, October Surprise?

Today I would like to cover a few things, none of which touches on the midterm elections. Therefore, if you are looking for diaries on those, there are plenty here to choose.

Maybe I am lost, but on October 10 2006 Falcon Camp was shelled and a large number of U.S. troops were killed and injured. Yet we are not hearing about it. Or did I just miss it? Read on. >>>

Acording to a number of news sources on the web, none of them what is considered mainstream, are all over this story. From reading the Global Research website I learn that there are conflicting reports on the number of casualties, or even the number of people stationed at the base. The numbers run from 100 to 5,000. As you read down that page on Global Research you can see that there are many conflicting reports, one Arab station even say that they think a Tactical Nuke exploded in the fire.

On October 11, 2006, a Tactical Nuclear Device appears to have exploded when fire broke out in an ammunition dump at Camp Falcon inside Iraq. Video from live nightly newscast in Baghdad caught the detonation - miles away - with it's characteristic ENORMOUS blinding white flash, a rising core of fire then a small mushroom cloud!" 5.21 min. If this link is not available, please see: Jihad Unspun

I still don’t really know what happen at Camp Falcon, and doubt that we will really get the whole story from our government, and the so-called Mainstream media, but I will keep looking. A friend of mine brought up that maybe this is what will be used as an excuse to start the Air-Campaign on Iran. He said that the government might blame this on the Iranians and use it as excuse. He might be right, but only time will tell. Which leads me in to the next part of this diary.

CONPLAN 8022.
(Developed be the administration, and scares the crap out of me.)

CONPLAN 8022, is a strategic plan that was developed by the Bush 43 administration to halt civilized societies, with the use of nuclear weapons. (Does this scare the shit out of anybody else?

A few days ago I was reading a WaPo Blog piece by William M. Arkin, entitled “The Truth Behind Military Inaction in North Korea , and at the time I just glanced through it, because, frankly it was chaos around here. Last night I was rereading it because of the shit I was finding on the net about the COPLAN 8022, and everything started to come together, like a bad nightmare.

On December 22, 2002, a plan began to be pieced together that would allow the U.S. to be able to strike anywhere in the world in just minutes. Put in charge of this plan was, Adm. James O. Ellis Jr., commander of U.S. Strategic Command (STRATCOM). On June 24 2003, The Secretary of Defense, Donald Rumsfeld signed of on the concept of COPLAN 8022.

The Plan was finished in November of 2003, and on June 30, 2004, The Chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff signed the Global Strike “Alert Order”, putting the military on notice that they needed to be ready to carry out a strike on the president’s whim. (Worried yet?) Ok, read this:

The Pentagon and the Joint Chiefs of Staff has amplified the global strike concept in an arsenal of classified papers and directives: the Strategic Planning Guidance for fiscal years 06-11, Contingency Planning Guidance, a new Nuclear Weapons Employment Policy, a Strategic Deterrence joint operating concept, a Global Strike Joint Integrating Concept, a Global Strike Functional Solutions Analysis, a Global Strike Functional Area Analysis, Global Strike Support Documents, a Deterrence Effectiveness Assessment.

In the following statement by retired General Sam Gardiner, sends shivers down my spine every time I read it.
Col. Sam Gardiner, a retired U.S. Air Force officer who has been running "war games" which lay out the Cheney-Bush Administration's military strategy, rang the alarm bell in March, at an international conference in Berlin, where he stated that the decision had already been made to go to war. Since then, Colonel Gardiner's analyses have appeared in several locations, including EIR. Recently, he authored a lengthy report issued by The Century Foundation, which laid bare the fraud of the "Summer diplomacy" conducted by Secretary of State Condoleezza Rice
EIR

While researching this I found this article that reviews a resolution put forward by Ohio Rep. Dennis Kucinich, that demands that all documentation that the White House has on Iran be turned over to the Congress. Kucinich Resolution On the same page is a nicely worded invitation for the Resident to share his documents with the congress, by Maryland (R) Rep. Wayne T. Gilchrest.

Like I said before this is all starting to come together like a bad series of dreams. I don’t know, maybe I am becoming paranoid and the way things are happening are just a series of bad coincidences.
1. The Patriot Act.
2. COPLAN 8022
3. 3 revisions to The Patriot Act
4. HR.-418, 1070, and the Intelligence Reform Bill 2004
5. The battle to resign the Patriot Act.
6. Courts finding in Bush’s favor on NSSA domestic wiretapping.
7. The Congress gift of torture and canceling of Habeas Corpus, with the Military Commissions Act of 2006.
8. What’s Next????????

“Daddy Should Ought Not Said That.”

I could not believe my ears yesterday when ask George W. Bush about a statement that his daddy made earlier this week. Read on.>>>

Yesterday on ABC’s “This Week” With George Stephanopoulos during his interview with George W. Bush, Stephanopoulos brought the statement that the elder bush made earlier in the week, when he said, he hates to think what life will be like for his son if the Democrats win control of Congress in the Nov. 7 election. WaPo

"He shouldn't be speculating like this, because -- he should have called me ahead of time and I'd tell him they're not going to [win]," a smiling Bush said

It makes you wonder does the Resident know something that we don’t, or is he just over enthusiastic? With all of the doubt over Electronic Voting, and the use of proprietary voting machines, and programs maybe there is something to worry about.

The elder Bush was also quoted as saying :

"I would hate to think . . . what my son's life would be like" if their Republican Party lost its majorities.
Though the elder Bush has said his job is to stay on the sidelines, that did not stop him from raising a warning about the prospects for a Democratic takeover of Congress.
Asked whether he had thought about the possibility, the president told ABC: "Not really. . . . I'm a person that believes we'll continue to control the House and the Senate."

I know many of the people are saying that the election will not be stolen, and that they are tired of hearing about it, and I know the reason why. It’s because they are afraid that people will come to the conclusion then why vote. Well I have already hit that one, but will vote anyway hoping that we have done enough to hold voter fraud in check. Also in hope that the change of power will actually make a difference. After seeing Barney Franks on Bill Maher Friday night. (Let me reword that.) On Real Time with Bill Maher, I saw a passion from Franks that I haven’t seen in any one on the left, other than Senator Russ Feingold. It does give me hope. But will this kind of passion beat a Diebold machine, or any other proprietary E-Machine?

Habeas Corpus takes a Holiday

Well it has started, the courts have been told they do not have the jurisdiction to hear habeas corpus cases. The Bush administration is quick to use the powers that the legislature gave last week. Read on>>>

With hundreds of habeas corpus petitions waiting to be heard from Guantanamo Bay prison, the administration has told the courts they no longer have the power to hear theses cases.

In a notice dated Wednesday, the Justice Department listed 196 pending habeas cases, some of which cover groups of detainees. The new Military Commissions Act (MCA), it said, provides that "no court, justice, or judge" can consider those petitions or other actions related to treatment or imprisonment filed by anyone designated as an enemy combatant, now or in the future.

Yesterday I wrote back to the Washington Observer-Reporter, after reading a letter to the editor, that was entitled, “Could a Letter Writer Disappear?, but the letter itself wasn’t the problem it was the responses that were posted to the letter. The people just don’t get it. Most seem to think that it is just for detainees, (enemy combatants). They don’t know that they themselves are potential enemies of the State. So in my letter I try to straighten that out for them.

As I pointed out yesterday the two biggest freedom destroying laws are the Patriot Act,(and all its revisions.) and HR 6166,(Military Commissions Act of 2006 .) The latter of the 2 actually gives an unprecedented power to the administration that is suppose to be working for us. I think we need to hope beyond all hopes that the Power in the Congress and Senate is transferred to the Left and we can begin to restore the America I once new. If nothing changes at least we will know for sure that both parties are one in the same.

A week or two back, Gonzalez threatened the courts not to mess with any of the administrations calls on the laws. The reason I bring this up is that the law is already being challenged.

The new law already has been challenged as unconstitutional by lawyers representing the petitioners. The issue of detainee rights is likely to reach the Supreme Court for a third time.

Habeas corpus, a Latin term meaning "you have the body," is one of the oldest principles of English and American law. It requires the government to show a legal basis for holding a prisoner.

In the last two years, The Supreme Court heard two cases in which they ruled in favor of the detainees. These cases seemed to have pointed out that the government was wrong in the way they were using the law. But as the legislature always seem to do for the administration, changed the laws to suite the wants of the administration. The one thing that was done with this act was that the interpretation of a key definition was left up to the administration, Enemy Combatant.

The administration wasted no time, or as my daughter says, “They didn’t let any grass grow under their feet.”

Immediately after Bush signed the act into law Tuesday, the Justice Department sent a letter to the U.S. Court of Appeals for the District of Columbia Circuit asserting the new authorities and informing the court that it no longer had jurisdiction over a combined habeas case that had been under consideration since 2004. The U.S. District Court cases, which had been stayed pending the appeals court decision, were similarly invalid, the administration informed that court on Wednesday.

I am uncertain what can be done to reverse the “Military Commissions Act of 2006”, but it needs to done now, before it is used against, Bloggers, Protesters, and anyone that speaks out against the administration. Those who know the constitution know that to suspend habeas corpus is to violate the constitution. A very important clause in the Section dealing with Habeas Corpus, is one that should make the people of this country quake in their boots. “The right to challenge detention "shall not be suspended" except in cases of "rebellion or invasion."

So, with that in mind does anyone that speaks out against the policies of this our any future administration run the risk of being jailed for their actions? Will we see what Adams did when he suspended Habeas Corpus, and jail those News paper people, and others including members of Congress, and the Senate, who spoke out against him and his policies? I guess only time will tell, and I hope time proves me wrong.

ABA
Ps. The next time someone tells you, Abraham Lincoln suspended Habeas Corpus, remind them he had a rebellion on his hands. This little skirmish called “The Civil War”.

[Note] As of this morning the Observer-Reporter had not changed its on line pages. Although the letter I mentioned was taken down. I will have to call my friends at the paper.

What is the Loss of Habeas Corpus?

The following is a letter I wrote in response to this letter in the Washington Observer / Reporter

This is in response to some of the responses to the Letter Entitled “Could a letter writer be made to disappear?” Let me start by saying those who have not read, HR 6166 should do so. The definition of an Enemy Combatant is so wide open that any one can be tagged an enemy combatant. Now that’s cleared up, let me explain what the loss of Habeas Corpus will mean to us.

Loosely translated Habeas Corpus means. “Show the body.” In other words show me the evidence you have against me. Habeas Corpus is a very important right of the accused. With out Habeas Corpus, you can be held with out a hearing indefinitely. From what I read in the Detainee Bill, if you receive a trial, it is more than likely not going to be fair.

An example: If you protest against the government, you can be labeled an enemy combatant, and held without trial. If you retain a lawyer, the law is written so loosely the lawyer that is representing you can be charged as an enemy combatant. Also as an enemy combatant, you do not have the right to trial by a jury of your peers. You will receive a military trial.

You might be saying to yourself well I would not protest the war, or against this government. Then I would ask if you have children, or grandchildren between 18 and 26? Eventually there will no choice, but to reinstate a draft. When that day comes, are you going to stand idly by and watch them forced into a war for the lies and sins of this administration? I highly doubt it.

One thing we as a people need to realize is, since the midnight signing of the Patriot Act, our rights and liberties have begun to disappear. The Patriot Act uses a broad definition of the word terrorist; anyone can be deemed a terrorist under the act.
The Patriot Act also weakens the powers of the Judiciary. With the signing of such laws as the Intelligence Reform Act of 2004, and five revisions of the Patriot Act, the Judiciary has lost power to question actions of this administration. Thus breaking the very checks and balances that the government was based upon. These laws as heinous as they are, they pale in comparison to what has just be signed into law in HR 6166. Because this administration and future administrations now have an unprecedented power over those that they were, suppose to serve.

I ask those of you who are reading this “Are you willing to give up your rights and freedoms for a “false sense of security“? If you answered yes, as Ben Franklin said, you deserve neither.
So in answer to the author of “Could a letter writer be made to disappear?” My answer to you is yes!

Space the Final Tool of Control for The U.S.?

Here’s a little something that I am torn on, The right for anyone, not just The United States to own space. One I am not real sure how close we are to being able to control space but I am sure that there is a conspiracy out there on the subject.

I am not so naive as to think that we don’t have some control over the last frontier. Just how much, I don’t know. In the introduction the opening comment reads this way; WaPo

"Freedom of action in space is as important to the United States as air power and sea power," the policy.

It is pretty much believed that to control space is to control the globe, and to control the globe is to control space. The United States has dominance over the air and oceans, and is working on world dominance, and as of today the extent of their wantonness to control the outer regions of the stratosphere became known:

National Security Council spokesman Frederick Jones said in written comments that an update was needed to "reflect the fact that space has become an even more important component of U.S. economic, national and homeland security." The military has become increasingly dependent on satellite communication and navigation, as have providers of cell-phones, personal navigation devices and even ATMs.

I highlighted the words in that quote to show the use of certain words by this administration to invoke a certain amount of fear in everything they say. This is done to keep the public in a state of fright so that they are more than likely to not question what is being fed to them. The only words missing from that statement is the word terrorism, but I am sure that is only because it did not come directly from the administrations henchmen.

As we know the Bush administration speaks in a code of sorts. What they say they want, and what will happen are totally two different things. With all that has happen with this administration is it any wonder that the Global community doesn’t trust the United States, and may never trust us again.

The administration said the policy revisions are not a prelude to introducing weapons systems into Earth orbit. "This policy is not about developing or deploying weapons in space. Period," said a senior administration official who was not authorized to speak on the record.

So when another country reads is statement they see this:[The administration said the policy revisions are a prelude to introducing weapons systems into Earth orbit. "This policy is about developing and deploying weapons in space. Period," said a senior administration official who was not authorized to speak on the record.]

This revision like so many other thing this administration does was snuck through. On Friday, October 9th at 5:30 Pm (Before Columbus Day), and no public announcement was made. Although the following statements bring back memories of the National Surveillance days;

The official also said the administration has briefed members of Congress as well as a number of governments, including Russia, on the new policy.

Could this have been what J.F.K. had in mind when he was thinking of the role the United States would play in the discoveries of the New Frontier?

On September 12, 1962, President John F. Kennedy gave a speech at Rice University that sparked the imagination of every man, woman and child, that ever wondered about the great vastness of space. He laid down a challenge to reach further than any man had gone. He challenged the United States to go to the Moon and then, beyond. He stated that we explore space not because it is easy but because it is difficult, and that the U.S. should "do it right and do it first before this decade is out,"

And as they have done so many times before, this administration has taken a dream, of hope and turned it into a vile plan of destruction. Using a falsehood of fear, to strive for total control.
